Job Description Summary
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for facilitating and executing transportation processes and activities to ensure the effective movement of ingredients, raw materials and concentrates into and from our Concentrate Plants and Warehouses. The role is expected to lead tactical carrier relationship management activities that will enable CPS-US to deliver excellent service to our Bottling Partners and Co-Packers while reducing our cost to serve. This role is also accountable for supporting strategic transportation projects and initiatives that will optimize our supply chains and deliver cost savings for the company. Other key processes that this role is responsible for include but not limited to: Facilitating the Importation of materials into the United States, TMS (OTM) Implementation and Execution, Service Level Agreement Management Routines, Transportation Scorecard Maintenance, Carrier Freight Claim Management, Carrier Assessorial Charges Validation and Approval etc.

Key Job Duties

  • Execute tactical transportation tasks/activities to enable “On Time” Deliveries to our customers and business partners
  • Execute master data maintenance tasks within TMS or SAP (OTM) system to insure proper routing, transit times and hazmat conditions exist for all materials and customer lanes.
  • Participate on Global teams to enhance SAP/TMS Functionality and Transportation Process execution.
  • Facilitates tasks to insure the timely importation and receipts of materials into CPS Plants and Warehouses
  • Support inbound and outbound activities coordination using current technology (e.g., e-mails, fax, system tools and teleconferences) and key business contacts in order to expedite logistics plans in areas related to Transportation
  • Works with CPS-West Shared Service MM Team to maximize transportation consolidation opportunities for ingredients
  • Manages and ensures the timely closure of  quality notifications related to transportation carrier defects
  • Report Trends on Defects by carrier and by location.
  • Executes frequent communicate with external transportation vendors, brokers, and suppliers
  • Responsible for preparing carrier performance reports as well as managing daily processes such as carrier claim filing, carrier corrective action management etc.
  • Provides CPS Leadership, Managers and Functional Leaders with information related to carrier issues and corrective action plans
  • Establishes routing guides for inbound ingredient suppliers to use in the selection process of a carrier
  • Participate in various functional and cross functional operational meetings
  • File/Process and follow up on carrier claims
  • Follow up on “Where is My Truck” Customer Delivery issues on CPS US Warehouses and Plant locations
  • Lead continuous improvements initiatives in US/PR related to transportation analyzing processes, implementing recommendations and follow up on action plans.
  • Lead investigations of all non-conformance and customer complaints related to carrier defects and assist in the implementation of corrective actions (SAP Quality notifications i.e. F1 & F4)
  • Participates in all Transportation regulatory and compliance training and/or sharing of knowledge with internal or external Company associates as requested.
  • Supports internal and external audits with requested documentation and assist during the audit period.  Prepares finding report and work in collaboration with the Manager to prepare the action plan.
  • Assists in the preparation of the Transportation Unit Budget, keep operational expense within recommendations and explain variances.

Job Requirements:



  • Associates or Bachelor Degree (Or equivalent work experience)


  • English


  • Three to Five years of related experience.

Functional & Technical Competencies

  • SAP- Sales & Distribution, Warehousing
  • TMS (Transportation Management Systems) i.e. OTM
  • Transportation Regulatory Compliance i.e. DOT, FAA , Hazmat etc.
  • Purchasing (Services)
  • Logistics
