Warehouse Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing warehouse resources, equipment, and information systems to ensure efficient materials flow within the plant and the timely availability of ingredients and products to meet both internal and external customer requirements. This includes developing and managing storage strategies, justifying capital investments and automation roadmaps, monitoring key performance indicators, managing the Opex budget, cascading the plant's Business Plan and Key Focus Areas to the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, and ensuring compliance with workplace health, safety, GMP, and quality standards.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Warehouse Operations Management:
Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of inbound/outbound logistics, production support, and inventory activities. Ensure resource allocation aligns with schedules to meet internal and external customer needs. Maintain updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and mitigate operational risks to ensure customer expectations are met. - Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
Develop and track warehouse performance metrics such as on-time execution, inventory accuracy, and resource utilization. Align performance objectives with plant business plans, regional, and global strategies. Implement continuous improvement initiatives and prepare detailed reports for performance analysis. - Resource Management:
Monitor and maintain warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, racking systems) for optimal performance. Ensure efficient storage strategies and SAP module utilization. Plan and justify capital investment needs, manage annual operational budgets, and recommend expansions as part of long-term site capacity planning. - Safety, Quality & Compliance:
Ensure warehouse operations comply with global standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, HACCP, KORE). Facilitate audits and implement corrective actions. Improve safety, ergonomics, and risk management processes while adhering to quality and regulatory requirements. Investigate incidents, implement root cause solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction. - Team Leadership & Development:
Set performance objectives, manage appraisals, and develop succession plans for team members. Recruit, coach, and motivate warehouse associates to foster engagement and implement improvement ideas.
Related Requirements:
- Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required; diploma or degree in technical disciplines (e.g., accounting, engineering, or science) preferred. APICS certifications (CPIM/CSCP) are an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing, warehousing, or materials handling facilities.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to supervise, train, and develop employees while fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, and distribution operations, as well as industry standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., food safety or materials handling regulations).
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills necessary for effective operations and strategic planning.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to collaborate with diverse teams in a matrix or ambiguous work environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.
