Engineering Stores Inventory Specialist
Position Overview
The Engineering Stores Inventory Specialist responsibility is to manage the day-to-day transaction of spare parts requests, pricing, purchasing and goods receipts for all spare parts and maintenance consumables received into the Engineering stores.
Setting up new bill of materials for all new equipment on sap.
Ensuring inventory accuracy is maintained at 98% through regular checks and completion of monthly cycle counts.
What you will do for us
- Sourcing of replacement spare parts and negotiation of pricing with various vendors and suppliers.
- Physically receiving boxes of delivered to site spare parts and putting them in the correct inventory location.
- Setting up of new spare parts material on SAP and regularly updating materials numbers with current prices and reorder levels
- Receiving & filling/saving inventory quotes on a weekly basis
- Processing of Goods issues /new materials / master data etc
- Co-ordinating with accounts payable on issues that may arise with blocked invoices, freight charges etc
- Maintaining inventory accuracy at ≥98%
- Coordination and completion of monthly cycle counts and updating of system.
- Co-ordinating the return of equipment for repair and refurbishment on a weekly basis
- Updating monthly metrics at month end.
COMMUNICATION COMPLEXETIES
- Maintenance Technicians – Spare Parts requests and queries.
- Production associates. Production Consumables requests and queries.
- Warehouse associates. Delivery of goods.
- Wider management – mainly Operations and Engineering management. Queries on spare parts and new equipment set up.
- Engineers. Queries on spare parts and new equipment set up.
- Engineering and Finance Senior Managers. Cycle Counts – new inventory requests.
- Finance associates. Month end close out, cycle counts, payment queries
- CAD and E&Y Auditors. Audit process
- Accounts payable in Accounts Payable. Account payment queries
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to assess a wide range of circumstances involving technical requests, vendor queries regarding engineering components.
- Ability to cancel & return incorrect parts and deliveries to vendors.
- Problems requiring decisions between technicians and suppliers regarding any potential late deliveries of components.
- Problems solve errors on cycle counts.
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- National Certificate or Diploma in an Engineering or Business.
- Previous experience in food based, pharmaceutical or high speed manufacturing environment is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel PowerPoint etc.
- Some technical knowledge of engineering components so as to deal with vendors on specifics.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel PowerPoint etc
- Experience in Engineering stores operation and understanding of equipment and the workings would be an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of SAP and in particular Material management and Preventative maintenance would be an advantage
