Laboratory Analyst B 2nd Shift

Job Summary:

Carry out all related activities of the continuous testing and disposition of ingredients and finished products with impartiality and confidentiality of the results generated.

Key duties/responsibilities:

  • Evaluate ingredients and products via visual inspection or by measuring weight, density, etc. to determine physical properties of samples and compliance with standards with a moderate level of supervision and autonomy. 
    • Perform chemical analyses using instrumental methods to determine the composition of samples.
    • Perform on time chemical analysis of in-process samples and communicate results to operations to continue or stop manufacturing process.
    • Perform chemical analysis of cleaning samples, evaluate results, and notify any impact if an out of specification result is obtained.
    • Prepare samples for ingredients, intermediate or finished products, or other materials to perform analyses (e.g., chemical, physical, sensory).
  • Interpret data from routine to validate those ingredients/materials meet specifications and approve for use or shipment.
    • Communicate and Out of Specification result and initiate a laboratory investigation as per procedure.
    • Generate QN and block inventory when confirmation of ingredients/materials do not meet specifications.   
  • Record data from analyses or experiments in a computer, logbook, or laboratory notebook.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation (e.g., troubleshooting, calibrating/verification, and repairing).
  • Conduct inspection of the laboratory or laboratory procedures to ensure conformance to internal (e.g., The Coca-Cola Quality System) or external certification requirements.
  • Dispose of expired chemicals according to schedules and expiration dates to keep laboratory area clean and safe.
  • Perform data audit to ensure accuracy of data and analytical processes. This may include statistical process control or correlation study.
  • Organize workflow and task schedules to maximize laboratory efficiency (e.g., prioritize sample analysis, assign tasks, preventative maintenance).
  • Prepare standards or standard curves to perform quantitative analyses.
  • Participate in projects that develop laboratory capabilities, mitigate risk and drive efficiencies.
  • Active participation in Network Initiatives as team member
  • Participate in investigations and perform root cause analysis to external and internal complaints and deviations.
  • Ensure proper handling of nonconforming material by placing the required status labels to materials on inventory and coordinating their segregation according to company procedures.
  • Participate and promote activities with the OE Team that contribute toward continuous improvement (5’s, workplace audit, T Cards, Idea Cards, Big C, Tip Plan, Communication Center, etc.).

Job Requirements/Qualifications

Type of previous work experience required:

Desirable Experience of minimum 5 years in the position or similar function as:

  • Laboratory Analyst in a regulated industry (Food, Pharma or Medical Device)
  • Laboratory Good Laboratory Practices & Data Integrity (ALCOA)
  • Laboratory Instrumentation knowledge

Number of years of previous work experience required:

+5 years in QA Chemical laboratory

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science (Major Chemistry, Chemical Engineering)

Languages

  • Fluent Spanish
  • Basic to Intermediate English
